Adult Program: “Turning the Bend: When It’s Time for Senior Services”

On Sunday, May 17, Or Emet will host a presentation by Jennifer Koontz and Clare Gravon, case managers for the senior services division of Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Minnesota.
The event will run from 10 a.m.-noon at Twin Cities German Immersion School, 1031 Como Ave. in St. Paul. A social time will follow.
Koontz and Gravon will provide a brief overview of the services JFCSMN provides to the community, as well as details about the Dementia Friends organization. They also will describe what it is like to live with dementia and tips for communicating with people who have the disease.
Attendees will be asked to turn their new understanding into practical action that can help people living with dementia in their families and communities.
Koontz has worked as a case manager for JFCSMN for several years, empowering seniors to be as independent as possible and connecting them with resources while also supporting family caregivers. She facilitates Dementia Friends information sessions and is a trained class leader for Powerful Tools for Caregivers.
Gravon has worked at JFCSMN for almost a decade, first as a coordinator of the food security program and now as a case manager in senior services. She is a master trainer for the Dementia Friends program and is currently working on a pilot program for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Those who cannot attend in person may join via Zoom. Please register in advance for the Zoom option.
The Sunday adult programs are free and open to the public and meet concurrently with the Jewish Cultural Sunday School.
