SUMMARY:Shabbat Service | Program: "My Work With Sheila and Paul Wellstone"
DESCRIPTION:On Friday\, April 24\, from 7:30-9 p.m.\, Or Emet will host a Shabbat service led by Rabbi Eva Cohen followed by a presentation by Marcia Avner\, former communications director for the late Sen. Paul Wellstone. A social time will follow. \nThe events will take place at the Minnesota JCC Sabes Center Minneapolis\, 4330 S. Cedar Lake Road\, Minneapolis.  \nAvner worked with Wellstone during his first term in the U.S. Senate. Together\, they confronted the governor over health concerns relating to power lines. She also supported Sheila Wellstone’s commitment to the movement to end violence in families.  \nAvner will share stories and observations about how these leaders carried out their conviction that\, “We all do better when we all do better.” The Wellstone legacy is strong in Minnesota and across the country. Avner invites attendees to share their own encounters and connections to the Wellstones. \nThose who cannot attend the program in person may join over Zoom.
